Acquisition of a licence for multi-engine aircraft – Multi Engine Piston (MEP) – licenses its holder to fly multi-engine aircraft with pistol engines as a pilot.
Applicants for this qualification must be PPL (A) holders and must have flown a minimum of 70 hours as a pilot-in-command. The theoretical part of the course for multi-engine aircraft consists of 7 hours with an accredited Xair flying school instructor. The practal part of the course consists of 6 flying hours. It involves circuit flights, area flights, training of emergency procedures including flying and landing with one engine not functioning. A theoretical exam is not required for this licence. The practical exam must be taken with a Civil Aviation Authority (ÚCL) examiner. The exam involves piloting techniques for circle and area flights and undertaking emergency procedures.
