A training course to acquire a Commercial Pilot Licence. Acquisition of a CPL is necessary to begin flying as a professional pilot. All pilots of Boeing and Airbus commercial airliners must have a CPL.
The minimum age for training course applicants is 18 years and they must have a 1st class flight fitness approval issued and valid (from the Civil Aviation Authority - ÚLZ). Before beginning the course, the applicant must already hold a PPL(A) and he must have a total flying time of at least 150 flying hours. The practical flying section consists of 25 flying hours. The actual length of the training course will always depend on the particular abilities of the student. The couse consists of flight planning, radio navigation, the use of aviation English when flying in the CR and abroad, pilot decision-making in deteriorating weather conditions and managing extraordinary and emergency situations. Theoretical exams are in the form of a test at the Civil Aviation Authority - ÚCL. This exam can be taken while practical training is still underway. Students can undertake the practical section on successful completion of the theory exams, which are checked by ÚCL examiners.
